Operation Stronghold focuses on reducing rural crime, shed and garage burglaries and thefts from motor vehicles and farm equipment.
Police and council officers provide crime reduction advice, as well as crime prevention materials including padlocks and shed alarms at a series of public roadshows. They also stay in contact with farms across the area offering crime prevention advice and the opportunity to buy crime prevention materials, such as garage locks, alarm padlocks and oil tank alarms at cost price. Members of the public are also encouraged to sign up to their local Neighbourhood Watch or Countrywatch schemes.
Raising public awareness and encouraging preventative activity is key to reducing crime. Many people are unaware that there are simple precautions that everyone can take to hugely reduce their chances of becoming a victim of crime.
